General Questions

Store views are the standard way to present your Magento catalog in multiple languages. Configure languages correctly before an eCommerce data migration with Cart2Cart so multilingual product and category data map cleanly to your target store (for example Magento, Shopify, or WooCommerce).

Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce (current)

1. In the Admin sidebar, go to Stores → Settings → All Stores.

2. Click Create Store View.

3. Set Store to the parent store, enter a Name (shown in the language switcher, for example Spanish), and a unique lowercase Code (for example spanish).

4. Set Status to Enabled, optionally set Sort Order, then click Save Store View.

5. Go to Stores → Settings → Configuration. In the scope switcher (top left), select the new store view and confirm.

6. Under General → Locale Options, clear Use Website next to Locale, choose the language/locale, then Save Config.

7. Flush Magento cache (System → Tools → Cache Management or CLI bin/magento cache:flush) so the store view appears on the storefront.

Magento 1.x (legacy)

Use these steps only on Magento 1 / OpenMage stores that are still on the Magento 1 admin.

1. In the Magento 1 admin, open System → Manage Stores (or the equivalent store-management screen) and create a new Store View for the language. Set it to Enabled.

2. Go to System → Configuration. In Current Configuration Scope, select the new store view.

3. Open the General section, clear Use Website next to Locale, select the locale, and save.

After languages are configured, start a free Cart2Cart demo or schedule a call with a Migration Expert.
