How can I change Bridge directory permissions (chmod 777)?

How to Change Migration Bridge Directory Permissions (CHMOD 777)

During the data migration process with Cart2Cart, you might need to adjust the permissions of the migration bridge directory on your server. This is often referred to as setting CHMOD 777. This allows the Cart2Cart service to read and write files within that directory, which is essential for transferring data between your source and target stores.

To set the correct permission (CHMOD 777) to the migration bridge directory, you'll need to connect to your server using an FTP application like Filezilla. Here's how:

  1. Connect to your server via FTP.
  2. Locate the migration bridge directory. This directory is usually created by Cart2Cart during the migration setup process.
  3. Right-click on the migration bridge directory.
  4. From the menu, choose "File permissions" or a similar option depending on your FTP client.

In the File permissions window:

  1. Enter "777" in the numeric value field, or
  2. Check all the "Read," "Write," and "Execute" boxes for Owner, Group, and Public.
  3. Save the changes.

Important Security Note: Setting CHMOD 777 grants full read, write, and execute permissions to everyone. This can pose a security risk. After the data migration is complete, it's highly recommended to revert the permissions to a more secure setting, such as 755 or 750, depending on your server configuration. Consult with your hosting provider or a server administrator for the most appropriate permissions for your environment.
