How Preserve IDs options can be used?

The Preserve IDs additional options in Cart2Cart let you keep the same numeric identifiers for your orders, customers, and (where supported) products on the target store after migration.

What exactly can I preserve?

  • Order IDs – carry over your existing order numbering as-is.
  • Customer IDs – keep customer account IDs unchanged.
  • Product IDs – available for many (but not all) cart pairs; check support for your specific Source/Target.

Why would I use it?

  • Continuity for customer service and internal processes (e.g., ticketing, ERP, reporting).
  • Less confusion for staff who reference historic IDs.

Are there prerequisites?

  • Clear Target store data first. Preserving IDs requires the "Delete/Clear current data on Target Store before Migration" option to avoid duplicates or conflicts.
  • Platform-specific steps may apply. For example, when migrating to WooCommerce and preserving order IDs, a free helper module may be required.

Is it available for every platform?

Order and customer ID preservation are widely supported; product ID preservation depends on the cart pair. Always verify availability for your exact Source/Target before running the full migration.

How do I enable it?

  1. In the Migration Wizard, select your data entities (orders, customers, products).
  2. Under Additional Options, tick Preserve order IDs, Preserve customer IDs, and/or Preserve product IDs as needed.
  3. Also tick Clear current data on Target Store before Migration (required when preserving IDs).
  4. Complete any platform-specific steps prompted by the Wizard (e.g., installing a free plugin for WooCommerce order IDs).
  5. Run a free Demo to validate the results, then launch the Full migration.
