General Questions

If the Migration Wizard cannot connect after you install the Connection Bridge—or the download/setup step fails—check that the bridge package is installed in the right place and that bridge.php is reachable.

CMS plugins: use the CMS root, not the plugin folder

For carts that run as plugins inside a CMS—such as WooCommerce, Shopp, or WP e-Commerce on WordPress, and VirtueMart-style carts on Joomla—upload the extracted bridge2cart folder to the WordPress or Joomla root (next to wp-config.php or the Joomla root), not into wp-content/plugins/… or the component folder. A bridge nested under the plugin path will not pass the wizard check.

Current install checklist

1. In the Migration Wizard, download the Connection Bridge ZIP (or use automatic upload if offered).

2. Extract the archive so you have a bridge2cart folder.

3. Place bridge2cart in the store/CMS document root via SFTP/FTP or file manager.

4. Open https://your-store.com/bridge2cart/bridge.php (adjust for subdirectories). You should see BRIDGE_INSTALLED.

5. Return to the wizard and retry the connection check.

More detail: What are the Connection Bridge files and how to download them?

If the connection still fails

— Confirm the bridge is in the CMS root, not a plugin subdirectory.
— Check folder/file permissions (bridge2cart typically 755, bridge.php typically 644).
— Ensure firewalls/WAF rules allow Cart2Cart servers to reach the bridge URL.
— Prefer HTTPS; if redirects rewrite /bridge2cart/, temporarily disable them for that path.
— If the ZIP will not download in the browser, try another browser, disable blockers, or contact support for the package.
