Why do I get migration warnings?

Understanding Data Migration Warnings with Cart2Cart

During your eCommerce data migration with Cart2Cart, you might encounter warnings. These warnings indicate non-critical issues detected during the migration process. You can view the number of warnings in a dedicated section on the Migration Details page after completing a Demo or Full migration. These warnings are designed to help you ensure a smooth and accurate transfer of your online store's data.

These warnings don't halt the migration, but understanding them is crucial for a successful data migration. Here's what could be causing them:

  • Character Set Mismatch: A difference in the character sets used by your source and target stores could lead to incorrect display of special characters after the data migration.
  • ID Conflicts: If the IDs of data being migrated already exist in your target store, it can cause conflicts. This often happens if the "Clear current data on the Target store" option wasn't selected during the migration setup.
  • Customizations: Migrating highly customized shopping carts, modified fields, or tables can sometimes trigger warnings due to compatibility issues.
  • Other Potential Issues: There could be other reasons specific to your store's configuration and data migration process.

While warnings aren't critical errors, it's recommended to investigate them to ensure all your data has been migrated correctly and displays as expected in your new store.
