Troubleshooting Image Migration Issues: Specifying the Correct Image Path

If images aren't migrating correctly during your shopping cart migration, the most common reason is an incorrect or missing image path in your source store settings. Cart2Cart needs the correct path to locate and transfer your product and category images.

How to Define the Image Path for Your Source Store

The path to images is not specified. Please fill in the correct path in your source store settings within the Cart2Cart Migration App. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve this:

  1. Access Your Cart2Cart Migration Settings: Log in to your Cart2Cart account and navigate to the migration setup page.
  2. Review Source Store Settings: Carefully examine the settings related to your source store connection. Look for a field specifically labeled "Image Path," "Image Directory," or similar.
  3. Identify the Correct Path: Determine the correct path to your images on your source store's server. This often involves inspecting the HTML source code of your website or consulting your store's documentation. Common locations include folders like "/images/", "/wp-content/uploads/", or similar.
  4. Enter the Path: Enter the correct path into the designated field in your Cart2Cart settings. Ensure you include the leading and trailing slashes if they are part of the actual path.
  5. Test the Connection: Use the "Test Connection" or similar button within Cart2Cart to verify that the platform can access the specified image path.
  6. Restart Migration: After verifying the image path, restart your migration process.

Example: If your images are stored in a folder named "product_images" within the root directory of your website, the correct path might be "/product_images/".

Tips for Finding the Correct Image Path

  • Inspect HTML Source Code: Right-click on a product image on your source store's website and select "Inspect" or "View Source." Look for the `src` attribute of the `img` tag. The path within the `src` attribute is likely the correct image path.
  • Check Your Source Store's Documentation: Refer to the documentation for your specific e-commerce platform. It often provides information on where images are stored by default.
  • Contact Your Hosting Provider: If you're unsure, contact your hosting provider for assistance in locating the image directory on your server.

By correctly specifying the image path, you can ensure that all your product and category images are successfully migrated to your new store. If you continue to experience issues, please contact Cart2Cart support for assistance.
