How to Change File Permissions (chmod 666) for bridge.php During Data Migration

During your data migration with Cart2Cart, you might need to adjust file permissions for the bridge.php file. This is sometimes necessary to ensure the Cart2Cart migration bridge can properly communicate with your store and transfer data. Setting the correct permission (chmod 666) allows the file to be read and written by all users.

To change the file permissions for bridge.php, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to your server using an FTP client, such as Filezilla.
  2. Navigate to the bridge2cart directory where you uploaded the migration bridge.
  3. Locate the bridge.php file within the bridge2cart directory.
  4. Right-click on the bridge.php file.
  5. From the context menu, select "File permissions" (or a similar option depending on your FTP client).

You should now see a dialog box where you can modify the file permissions.

File Permissions Dialog

In the permissions dialog, you can either:

  • Enter 666 in the numeric value field.
  • Or, check the "Read" and "Write" boxes for the "Owner," "Group," and "Public" (or "Others") categories.
Change Attributes to 666

After setting the permissions, save the changes. The bridge.php file should now have the correct permissions for the data migration process.
