Troubleshooting Shopp Image Migration Issues During Data Migration

Shopp offers two methods for storing images: File System and Database. When performing a data migration with Cart2Cart, image storage settings can impact the process.

  1. Target Cart is Shopp: Ensure that the Image Storage setting is configured to "File System." You can verify this by navigating to Setup -> System -> Image Storage in your Shopp admin panel.
  2. Source Cart is Shopp and Image Storage is Database: If your source Shopp store stores images in the Database, a standard data migration will not transfer these images. To address this, please contact our Support Team to request a custom data migration solution.

More info

Cart2Cart can migrate products, categories, customers, and orders to Shopp (WordPress plugin), but product variants / option combinations are not migrated as native Shopp variants in the automated migration.

Shopp variants (current)

1. Expect parent products and core catalog fields to transfer; variant rows from the Source cart will not appear as Shopp product options automatically.

2. After Demo/Full Migration, recreate options in Shopp (product Attributes / Options) or split popular SKUs into separate products if that fits your catalog.

3. For large catalogs, ask Cart2Cart support about a custom mapping, or hire a Shopp/WordPress developer for a post-migration import.

4. Always run a Demo Migration and spot-check a few products with options before Full Migration.

Earlier answer (legacy)

Previous copy stated that direct migration of product variants to Shopp is not supported, with workarounds of separate products, manual attributes/options, or custom development.
