This week, the Cart2Cart team maintained strong operational throughput, successfully migrating and finalizing demo processes for a massive volume of data across various platforms. Our dedicated efforts resulted in the seamless transfer of over 195,500 entities across completed projects, demonstrating our core competency in complex platform transitions.
Operational Excellence: High-Volume Flows and Strategic Transfers
Our migration engine continues to handle high traffic volume, with the WooCommerce to Shopify pipeline remaining the most active pathway. We finalized numerous large-scale migrations, including significant volumes originating from Magento and PrestaShop, validating our flexibility across diverse e-commerce ecosystems.
Key Operational Highlights:
- Total Entities Completed: Over 195,500 entities (products, customers, orders, etc.) were successfully transferred in completed full and recent data migrations.
- Platform Reliability: Successful high-volume operations included two large-scale internal platform moves involving over 51,900 entities in an OpenCart to OpenCart transfer.
- Complex Source Success: Several major platforms moved towards next-gen solutions, notably a large data set involving thousands of entities shifting from Magento to Shopify, and robust completion of PrestaShop to Shopify projects.
- Cross-Platform Movement: We also facilitated notable movements such as Magento data transitioning to WooCommerce in multiple recent data jobs, confirming our readiness for the full range of migration needs, including Magento to WooCommerce.
Technical Deep Dive: Solving Custom Data Challenges and Improving UX
The support team resolved numerous technical hurdles this week, particularly those related to bespoke platform customizations and client-side data configuration. A major focus was placed on ensuring the integrity of complex product data and optimizing large migrations for speed.
Critical Technical Resolutions:
- Custom Field Mapping: We addressed several requests involving the transfer of specific product metadata, such as ingredient lists from WooCommerce's ACF fields and UPC codes which require custom mapping to Shopify's Barcode or metafields.
- API Rate Limits & Optimization: For a major ongoing migration involving over 36,000 orders, we successfully implemented a strategy to run separate keys for certain entities (like coupons) concurrently with orders, helping mitigate Shopify API rate limiting and significantly accelerating the overall process timeline.
- Improved User Transparency: The development team rolled out several quality-of-life improvements, including fixing known console errors in the migration wizard and enhancing user feedback by adding the count of skipped entities directly into the migration details view. This significantly boosts transparency for our clients.
- Access and Security: We tackled issues where migrations failed due to security changes, such as 401 Unauthorized errors caused by expired BigCommerce API access or Wix platform changes, requiring quick adaptation and workaround implementation to proceed. We also streamlined the process for handling Squarespace's two-factor authentication requirements.
