This week saw the Cart2Cart platform handling massive data loads, successfully processing a colossal volume of entities across various shopping carts. Our focus remained on delivering precision, especially when tackling unique platform limitations and intricate customer data mapping requests.
Weekly Wins: High-Volume Transfers and Platform Highlights
Our team processed approximately 2,200,000 data entities this period, highlighting the platform's robust capabilities under significant load. The dominant flow continued to be migrations toward Shopify, with several high-volume projects reaching successful completion.
- Massive Data Transfer: A large store specializing in collectible items completed a migration containing over 125,900 entities, demonstrating a major successful BigCommerce to Shopify switch.
- Consistent Performers: The majority of completed projects involved the popular WooCommerce to Shopify pair, including a successful transfer of roughly 39,700 entities for an accessories supplier.
- Complex Reverse Migration: We successfully executed a full migration for an industrial furniture retailer performing a crucial Shopify to WooCommerce transition, handling over 2,400 entities.
- Platform Diversity: Key conversions were also finalized from platforms like Magento and Volusion, reinforcing our commitment to universal platform support.
Solving the Unsolvable: Custom Logic and API Limits
This week, our technical tasks were heavily focused on overcoming specific platform limitations and deep data mapping challenges requested by our clients:
Tackling Option Variant Overload on Wix
We encountered repeat issues with migrations targeting Wix, where the platform imposes a strict API limit of 200 choices per product customization. This caused errors for products with extensive option combinations (e.g., highly configurable lighting fixtures). The technical team is actively communicating with clients to either skip these highly complex products or implement custom filtering solutions.
Advanced Data Mapping and Transformation
Several custom mapping challenges required low-level database manipulation:
- Custom Attribute Extraction: For an OpenCart migration, the client requested that specialized product fields (like 'seller's name' and 'metal type') stored in non-standard tables be extracted and migrated. This necessitated significant investigation into the client's custom database schema to define the correct relationship logic.
- Currency Conversion Fixes: We addressed a core issue in the Shopify to Wix migration path where prices in non-USD currencies were being incorrectly ignored. A targeted customization was implemented, requiring a full remigration to ensure accurate price transfer across all currencies.
- Bridge vs. API Resolution: In a demanding WooCommerce migration, the client experienced issues with variant pricing and missing color options when using the standard API. Switching the connection to a Bridge migration resolved the discrepancy, allowing for the correct transfer of complex product variations.
