This week, the Cart2Cart team showcased robust performance, handling massive transfers and resolving intricate data mapping issues that pushed the limits of cross-platform compatibility. Our migration pipeline was bustling, highlighted by a single transfer exceeding 134,300 entities and continued dominance in the increasingly popular platform switching sector.
Migration Momentum: Peak Performance Across Platforms
Our operational efficiency remains high, with successful completion of numerous full migrations and major recent data updates. We successfully navigated large-scale data transfers, proving our ability to manage extensive digital storefronts.
Key Operational Highlights:
- The largest single transfer this period involved a massive Magento to Shopify migration, moving over 134,300 entities to the target store.
- We completed high-volume runs for clients migrating from PrestaShop to Shopify, including a nearly 10,000-entity transfer, and facilitated significant WooCommerce to Shopify migrations.
- A notable high-volume move saw a client shift over 32,100 entities in a smooth Shopify to BigCommerce process.
- We successfully executed complex platform transitions, including an 15,700-entity transfer from CoreCommerce to WooCommerce, demonstrating versatility beyond the standard migration routes.
Engineering Edge: Overcoming Security Blocks and Custom Data Challenges
The support team resolved critical technical barriers this week, focusing heavily on security whitelisting, data encoding, and precise custom field mapping, crucial for clients with specialized data structures.
Critical Resolutions and Customizations:
- Hosting Access and Redirection: Multiple migrations (e.g., PrestaShop to Shopify ID 539921) were stalled by aggressive redirects and hosting firewalls (like ModSecurity). Our engineers provided targeted solutions, sometimes requiring migration via database dump when direct connection proved impossible.
- Deep Data Mapping (Metafields): For a complex Magento to Shopify migration (ID 527908), we began customizing the transfer of approximately 25 custom fields directly into Shopify Metafields, a labor-intensive but high-value service.
- Encoding & Symbol Fixes: A challenging PrestaShop to Shopify migration (ID 539930) required bespoke code modification to handle Lithuanian special characters (such as 'ė') and correct faulty country mapping that was erroneously assigning customers to Macao instead of Lithuania.
- Internal Tooling Updates: In response to user experience feedback (LAR-34939, LAR-35021), we updated our internal recent migration wizard and UI buttons, improving clarity for customers and internal staff navigating complex synchronization processes.
