What are the Connection Bridge files and how to download them?

Answer

Connection Bridge files are used to retrieve information from your Source and Target Stores and implement data interaction between them. These special access gateways are secured by unique tokens for reliable data processing. Right after you start creating your migration, Cart2Cart Migration Wizard will lead you through the process of setting up your Source and Target stores. At that point, you’d need to download and install Connection Bridge files for both of your shopping carts.

There are two ways you can download Connection Bridge files:
  1. If this is your first migration, click “Create Migration” from the upper menu within your Cart2Cart account. At the “Source Cart Setup” and “Target Cart Setup” steps of the Migration Wizard, click the “Download” link.
  2. If you’ve already started a migration with Cart2Cart, go to “My Migrations” page. Within the list of your started migrations, click the “Download Source Bridge” and/or “Download Target Bridge” links.
For your Source Shopping Cart, the Bridge file is named “source_bridge”. For your Target Cart, it’s “target_bridge”. Right after you click “Download” link, save the files to your local computer. They will be saved as zip files. Extract the files into separate folders.

Now, connect to your Source and Target Stores via FTP with the help of any type of FTP client software, e.g. WinSCP, FileFTP, FileZilla, CuteFTP, etc. Within the FTP client, copy the “bridge2cart” folder extracted from the Connection Bridge files and copy it into your Source and Target Stores accordingly.

Now, you can check if the Connection Bridge files have been installed correctly. Simply enter http://[yourstore url]/bridge2cart/bridge.php within your browser address line. If you see this type of error “ERROR_BRIDGE_VERSION_NOT_SUPPORTED”, it means the bridge files are working correctly. If not, please set the following permissions:

  • 644 or 666 for "bridge.php", depending on your server configuration
  • 755 or 777 for "/bridge2cart" folder, depending on your server configuration

Note! We strongly recommend to turn off your website redirects to ensure proper functioning of the Connection Bridge files. Go to "http://[yourstore url]/bridge2cart/bridge.php" to check if you need to turn off the redirects. If the link is redirecting you to another location, disable the redirects in your .htaccess file, a hidden file residing in your "shop" folder.
