Please follow these steps to avoid probable difficulties during migration and transfer your data smoothly.

Pre-Migration Preparation

Before starting migration make sure you have:

  • Source Store installed and available online. Source store is your current store you want to migrate FROM.
  • Target Store installed (without additional modules or modifications) and available online. Target store is the new store you want to migrate data TO.
  • FTP/Admin accesses to both shopping carts (see the table of required Access Info below)

1. Data Backup

Cart2Cart service doesn’t delete store data from your shopping cart during the migration process. Your data is copied and moved to a target store. However, to ensure data security and avoid any risks, you are bly recommended to save your database on USB flash drive, DVD or hard drive. You can make use of backup option if such is allowed with your hosting service.

2. Access Info

If your source and/or target shopping cart is API-based, there are specific requirements you should keep in mind before starting your migration.You don't have to upload Source or/and Target Connection Bridge to your store FTP when you migrate from or/andto API (hosted) shopping cart. Below is the list of API-based shopping carts with the required access data you need to secure for implementing successful migration.

3. Target Shopping Cart installation

Your target shopping cart should be installed and live when you start store migration. Please fill in the request form if you need assistance with target shopping cart installation. The service is provided for additional cost.

Your source shopping cart should be available online as well. Target and source store URLs should be different, as well as folder paths.

Note. Requirements for Customized Shopping Carts

In case your source or target shopping cart has non-standard configuration settings, you can request for Customized Migration Service. Migration Process

1. Calculate the Exact Price of Migration

The cost of store migration with Cart2Cart is not fixed. It depends on the number of entities you need to migrate to a new shopping cart. Use the Migration Estimator feature to find out the exact price of your shopping cart migration.

2. Register an Account

To start migration you don’t need to download any software. You are only required to register an account and you will be able to set up store migration. Add funds to your account for data transfer.

3.Provide Shopping Carts Info

Follow the Migration Wizard to setup your source and target shopping carts properly.

  1. Include Your Store URLs. Source and Target cart URLs have to be different
  2. If your Source shopping cart is not API based you will need to download connection bridge to let the service access your catalog data. For API based shopping carts you will not have to download connection bridge, but you will be required to provide access details mentioned above.

4. Select Data for Migration

You can choose the items you want to migrate - products, customers, orders, or everything all together. Note: you can not migrate the items of one type selectively. If you choose to migrate the products you will not be able to migrate only certain amount of products, or only the latest added to your store. You will migrate all the products that are in your source store database. A number of additional migration options is available. They include:You can also choose additional options for migration.   • Delete current data from the Target Store before the migration
  • Preserve order IDs on the Target Store
  • Preserve customer IDs on the Target Store
  • Create product variants based on the combinations of attribute values
  • Strip HTML from category and product names
  • Transfer images in product descriptions to your target store
  • Migrate categories and products SEO URLs

These options are provided for additional cost. The set of additional options is individual for each particular shopping cart so check the list of them on the supported cart page.

5. Map Languages

For multilingual shopping carts, there is an opportunity to map the corresponding languages of source and target shopping carts. Check if the target cart settings allow you to support multiple languages and provide the mapping in Cart2Cart wizard.

6. Map Order Statuses

Order migration may require order statuses mapping. In case of specific order statuses that are not supported in target cart by default, you should change the target cart settings and add the missing order statuses. After that, you will be able to map order status info and proceed with migration.

7. Start FREE Demo Migration

Now you are ready to start free DEMO Migration. It is provided for a limited number of items to check Cart2Cart service functionality. It is bly recommended no to skip demo migration step to see the actual result of migration on your target store. Moreover, it will take you only 10-30 minutes. You shouldn’t close the browser window until the demo migration is done. After it is completed you can check the results on your target shopping cart. 8. Choose one of Insurance Migration plans.

You will have an opportunity to restart the transfer in case of unforeseen circumstances like bugs after improper e-Commerce solution installation, third-party add-ons modifications, etc. The price of Migration Insurance depends on the selected plan and varies from 9% to 13% of total data transfer.

9. Start Full Migration

At this point, you may start Full Migration. You will be asked to fund your account if there is not enough to perform the migration. Provide a discount coupon if you have one in the appropriate field.

Post-Migration Checkup

After store migration is complete check the result on your newly established store. Manage the data, not available for migration (store design and content, SEO details, etc.)

1. Request for Remigration Service

In case of troubles with initial migration you can request for Remigration Service.Remigration service is requested in case you need to perform your shopping cart migration for the same source and target stores all over again. This happens in case of improper shopping carts setup, corruption of migration data, additional store modifications, etc. The cost of Remigration Service is calculated as 50% off the price of your initial Full Migration. It can be requested as a separate inquiry.

2. Test Your Website

Check your website for possible issues. Make sure your domain name is active and your links are working properly. Also, check all the data within your website. Do not disable your Cart2Cart account right away. Check your website several weeks after migration and make sure everything works correctly. The archive of your previous store may be helpful.
